WEEK 10 GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Centerville can't slow down Elder
Panthers total 523 yards of offense in a 52-27 Division I playoff victory over the Elks.

CINCINNATI — "The Pit" is a nice stadium to play in, but it's not as fun when you face an Elder Panthers offense like the one that showed up Saturday night, Nov. 1.

Elder High School racked up 523 yards and seven touchdowns in a 52-27 victory over Centerville in the Division I, Region 4 quarterfinal at Elder Stadium. The Panthers (10-1) face Northmont (10-1) in the regional semifinals next Saturday, most likely at the University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium. The site and time will be announced today.

"That's an outstanding offense over there," said Centerville coach Ron Ullery, whose team finished 7-4. "They've got a ton of weapons over there."

The Elks experienced most of them.

Elder quarterback Mark Miller completed 16-of-26 passes yards for 334 yards and three touchdowns.

Panthers running back Adam Brown had 118 yards on 12 carries. Receivers Tim O'Conner (four catches, 116 yards), Josh Jones (7-120) and Michael Del Prince (3-75) tore up Centerville's defensive backfield.

"We played really well on offense," Elder coach Doug Ramsey said. "We thought we had some matchups going into the game that we could take advantage of. Our receivers are really good."

Elks quarterback Logan Hanes rushed for 127 yards and three scores. Fullback/defensive lineman Adam Replogle added 99 yards on 15 bruising carries.

The Elks' biggest highlight was a 35-yard TD pass from Hanes to Matt Daly on fourth down. But Centerville's ball control came and went, and Elder never let up.

"They scored so dang fast that I didn't want to give them the ball back real quick," Ullery said. "And hopefully, we'd get a turnover or a good kickoff or field position — something like that — to make them drive a little longer and make a mistake. But they didn't make too many mistakes."

Not even Replogle's double duty was enough to stay close.

"We knew coming in that they were a good team, but all you need is one day just to come out and be better than them," he said. "Tonight wasn't our day."
